Tokyo Tourist Attractions

Delivered directly to your hotel, the Tokyo Metro Pass is a great alternative to standing at a ticket machine and scratching your head in confusion over many fare options. Available for 24, 48 and 72 hours, Tokyo Metro Pass gives unlimited access to all Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway lines.

And here are a few ideas of what you can discover with your Pass:

Teamlab Borderless Tokyo Digital Art Museum

Tokyo's Digital Art Museum is a must-see, especially if you are travelling with kids. Imagine them trampolining under a ceiling with ever-changing colours or taking them to a tea house where colour effects create blossoms right in your cuppa for as long as there's tea. Digital projectors create animated artworks on walls, floors and ceilings with which visitors can interact. Magical!

Tokyo Skytree

When it reached its full height in 2011, Skytree was 634m or 2,080 ft tall, making it temporarily the tallest tower in the world. Now it's the second tallest, after the Burj Khalifa (829.8m/2,722 ft). Trains stop at the adjacent Tokyo Skytree Station and also at nearby Oshiage Station.

Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko

Take a day out and visit Mount Fuji, one of Japan's most famous images and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The active volcano lies about 100 km southwest of Tokyo and is the country's tallest mountain at 3,776m. Made famous by Edo period prints by artists Hokusai and Hiroshige, the mountain and nearby Lake Kawaguchiko, the second largest of Japan's spectacular Fuji Five Lakes, are two of the most visited sites in Japan.

Tokyo Disneyland

Mickey, Minnie, Pluto & Co in Japanese? Your kids won't even notice, as they'll be too busy running around the zillions of attractions at this world of wonders.

Be a Ninja at Edo Wonderland

In the lovely city of Nikko you can discover what life was like for geishas, police, ninjas and samurais during the Edo period. Go on a Yakata Boat Cruise, learn archery samurai-style or enjoy a tea ceremony, after eating your fill of Chicken Rice Koji - or wash it down with Nishiki Koji Watermelon Juice instead. Dress up in kimonos or battle dress.

Robot Restaurant and Monster Show

Robot Restaurant wants you to experience Tokyo in an imaginative way that is full of dancers, monsters, ninjas, samurai and neon light effects in every possible colour. Enjoy a 90-minute show that will make noodles and sushi revolve around your insides and your eyes pop!

Alternatively:

Sumo Wrestlers and Chanko Hot Pot

While you're coming to terms with your Chanko Hot Pot ingredients, you can watch two Sumo wrestlers at work in Tokyo's Ryogoku area. Sumo Hall, or Ryogoku Kokugikan Stadion with its Sumo Wrestling Museum are close by, if you want to learn more about Japan's national sport (www.sumo.or.jp/En).

Harajuku Owl Cafe

If big, sweaty men are not your thing at lunchtime, try fluffy owls and beautiful falcons at the Harajuku Owl Cafe instead. Although not suitable for kids under 6, the 1-hour show is a great way to rest for a short while over refreshments.
